“This collection of jazz and blues material pays homage to artists like Nina Simone, Dinah Washington, Peggy Lee and a number of other vocalists whom I’ve listened to over the years and who have greatly influenced my own work in the rock idiom. To me, these songs (while some are more obscure) were purely pop songs of their era. As players, our goal was to deconstruct these songs and give them a fresh treatment. I feel very privileged to have worked on this recording with my live band, The Swingin’ Barflies; musicians whom I feel each have their own unique personal style. I can’t thank you guys enough.”
